I just tried them again, with the same results (print successful, scan failed).īelow is an excerpt from the log. All of them fail with the (-21345) error. Before posting the problem, I have tried scanning from the IJ Scan Utility, Image Capture, and System Preferences->Printers & Scanners->Scan->Open Scanner. Thank you for your suggestion, but no, it did not answer the question. Thank you for the reply, and I also expected the scanner to work, since it had worked previously and the printer continues to work well. If the error persists, we would have to advise that you contact Apple to determine why the AirPrint scanner cannot be accessed, or scan from a different Mac/Windows computer or from an iOS/Android device with the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app. Once the printer has been added, try accessing the "scan" tab in system preferences and see if the scanner can be opened. Click Add at the bottom when it becomes available. Wait a few moments, then highlight the Bonjour version of the printer.ĥ.
In the next window, click Default on the upper left corner. Click the plus (+) sign and look for an option that says "Add printer or scanner". Highlight and delete any copies of the Canon Printer listed on the left by clicking the minus (-) sign.ģ. Then open the Printer and Scanners menu.Ģ. Click the Apple and choose System Preferences. Next, close any applications that are open on the Mac and perform the following:ġ. Once this has been done, turn the printer off and back on.

I could try Ken's approach, but I really didn't want to run a virtual Windows machine on my Mac just to use the scanner. Do any of you digital gurus out there know how all this fits together? Will the 64-bit version of Photoshop Elements automatically use the new driver even if I have no working Epson Scan software any more? But I was putting this off, because if it won't work with my scanner it is wasted money. So current status: I have an out-of-date (32-bit) version Photoshop Elements, I know I need to buy the new 64-bit version. To scan negatives and get them into Photoshop Elements, the Epson tech rep said I would have to call either Adobe or Apple. There is no 64-bit Epson Scan or Epson Scan 2 software which will work with the old 4990 scanner.
EPSON SCANNER SOFTWARE FOR MAC CATALINA UPDATE
Having spoken with Epson, it seems that I did successfully download their "ICA Scanner Driver v5.8.9 for Image Capture" which (a) they say is Apple software, not Epson's, and (b) is in the Image Capture app even though it does not show a new update date.
